This week in order to celebrate World Day for Health and Safety, we spoke to our in-house Health & Safety and Facilities Team to find out how they spend their day-to-day at ALLpaQ.
Get to know the characters within the department and the significance of Health and Safety when it comes to the fabrication and packaging of our product range.
Whether it’s the Technical Team designing cutting-edge Bioprocess Totes, the Production Team fabricating orders, or our Warehouse Team packing them off to be shipped from our manufacturing site, one thing remains constant: the safety and well-being of our people come first.
This is the department with people who think ten steps ahead, so the rest of us can focus on our jobs safely and efficiently. Whether they’re walking the production floor or updating risk assessments, their work reaches out to every part of the business.
They’re constantly balancing care and compliance ensuring our teams are protected, and our sites secure. Here is a breakdown of some of the tasks they take on daily:
Identifying potential risks before they become problems, and putting controls in place to keep our people, processes, and environment safe.
Every visitor or new starter here at ALLpaQ gets a full safety briefing from the team, and Health & Safety continue to provide ongoing training, keeping everyone informed and compliant.
Health and safety legislation is complex and ever-changing. The team stays ahead of the curve, ensuring ALLpaQ meets all industry standards.
Regular walkthroughs and detailed audits help spot issues early and promote a culture of continuous improvement across all departments.
Let’s be honest, most of us don’t wake up thinking about safety signs and risk assessments. But that’s exactly why the Health & Safety Team is so important. They think about those things… so the rest of us don’t have to.
Here’s how they play a crucial role in keeping ALLpaQ running like a well-oiled (and safely operated) machine:
Employee well-being is one of the most important things we prioritise at ALLpaQ. Our people are our power and keep the ALLpaQ wheels turning. If the shop floor here in Widnes isn’t safe, then our Team isn’t safe.
The Health & Safety team works hard to create an environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued both physically and mentally.
Meet Peter McGinty our Facilities and Health & Safety Manager. He is at the heart of ALLpaQ’s commitment to safety and operational excellence, with support from the other members of the ALLteaM.
With over four years of experience at ALLpaQ, Peter plays a crucial role in ensuring that our facilities run like clockwork. From overseeing day-to-day facility management to implementing and monitoring health and safety procedures, Peter’s work ensures a secure and smooth-running environment for our staff, contractors, and visitors alike.
“I manage the team to ensure the facilities are fully operational and ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all our staff, contractors and visitors whilst at our facilities.
I like that senior management care about the health and safety of all staff and will do anything necessary to ensure we do the right thing at all times. I’ve worked in other places where H&S was seen as a tick-box exercise—but that’s not the case here.” – Peter explains.
Peter Thomas McGinty is our Facilities and Health & Safety Officer, alongside Zack Allen, our Trainee H&S officer here at ALLpaQ.
Their roles within the team include, ensuring all members return home safely to their families, the smooth running of the ALLpaQ facilities, and upholding all the Health & Safety standards.
Peter T and Zack explained
“What we like the most about working at ALLpaQ is the support everyone gives each other and the friendly atmosphere in and out of the office.
Being careful costs you nothing, carelessness may cost you your life”
Peter Thomas has worked at ALLpaQ for just over 3 years after starting in October 2021 as a fabricator, giving him an inside view into the importance of safety with plastic fabrication. He is now training Zack, who has been working under an apprenticeship scheme at TraindUP for 6 months.
Safety isn’t a solo act — and at ALLpaQ, our Health & Safety team is one of the most collaborative crews around.
You’ll find them across every department, solving problems before they start, and working shoulder-to-shoulder with teams to create safer, smoother workflows.
Thank you to the Health & Safety Team. Safety is more than just a department — it’s a company-wide mindset.
