Outline of key responsibilities

While the general duties and responsibilities of the Technical Manager are listed below, as an agile company the successful candidate’s position will evolve against company needs. After all, if you’re standing still, you’re not moving forward.

The main focus of the role will be to lead a team of engineers towards pre-defined goals and objectives for the department and company. As a proven and dependable leader, you will drive forward our ethos of continual improvements for our team and customers. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

  • Generating monthly reports and presenting to the director of operations.
  • Embracing and promoting the company core values.
  • Evaluating the current technical QMS system, recommending and implementing changes for the better.
  • Evaluating and managing a stock control system for raw materials and fabricated components.
  • Managing technical team workload through effective delegation, including planning of CNC machine time.
  • Producing and approving technical drawings utilising CAD for general assembly, fabrication and BOM.
  • Providing mentorship and professionally developing Design Engineers and Technical Operators.
  • Collaborating with all relevant departments to ensure all tasks are completed in an efficient manner.
  • Attending regular production meetings with the Management Team.
  • Planning work schedules for 3 axis CNC routers, UV printers and 3D FDM printers.
  • Producing and approving accurate costs sheets for quotation purposes.

Desirable skills, qualities and past experience

The successful candidate will: 

  • Be highly motivated with a passion for engineering that is evident.
  • Have experience with at least one 3D modeling program (the ability to communicate through CAD is essential).
  • Have SolidWorks experience (preferred but not critical). 
  • Be experienced working to ISO9001-2015
  • Be a strong communicator both written and verbal.
  • Understand the importance of feedback.
  • Have experience working in/with pharmaceutical industries.
  • Have a natural interest and experience in product design.
  • Be proactive in their management style.
  • Demonstrate past experience operating, programming and maintaining CNC routers, 3D and UV printers.
  • Be knowledgeable about plastic design and fabrication methods.
  • Have a HND/ Degree in an Engineering subject (preferable but not essential).
  • Have experience setting and reporting on FEA simulations.
