We caught up with our newly promoted Production & Warehouse Manager, David Burgess this week to find out more about the Warehouse team. How they kick-start their day, the characters within the department and what they strive to achieve for their customers.

Q) How does a typical day start in the Warehouse department?

A typical day starts with the Warehouse team attending the Production start of shift meeting to ensure that we are all working off the same page and supporting the ALLteaM ethos.

Q) Tell us about the team. Who are the key ALLteaM members?

The team within the Warehouse department have a great relationship. Always there to support each other and ensure that nobody is left to struggle.

Although from different generations, the relationship between our Warehouse Operatives, Josh Jones and John Steele is always a joy to witness. They have a lot in common, especially their love of music and dance.

Jonathon Rudkin, our Warehouse Supervisor is always there to support and ensure the work is being carried out to ALLpaQ’s standards. Whilst at the same time, he ensures the dancing doesn’t affect the output of the team!

Q) What processes have you introduced since joining the team, Dave?

The new labelling process that we have implemented helps us understand which status our products are in: Raw Material, WIP and Completed. The importance of the process and benefits it has introduced has been a real success with stock and visual management.

This in turn, has been a real benefit with monthly stock takes which has become more time-efficient and stable, enabling us to plan and schedule better.

Q) How do you manage efficiencies in the Warehouse department?

We continually review what we are doing and have a Lean mentality when planning / carrying out tasks.

We will discuss what we have to do / are doing to understand if there is a better alternative to how we have always done something. Also by opening up communication lines, this provides confidence to the team to offer suggestions and implement where suitable.

Q) Why is communication across Production, Operations, Technical and Quality key to what the Warehouse department does?

Communication across departments is vital to continue to improve the ALLteaM ethos. This ensures that all levels of the business are aware of what the Warehouse team are doing and sharing the good news stories.

Working together and communicating issues or successes enables us to focus on where we can improve. This is something which we are continually striving to do as a department and a business.

Q) What goals do the Warehouse team strive to achieve for your customers – internal and external?

With regard to achieving customer satisfaction, whether this be internal or external, the Warehouse team are committed to offering the best product by working to their own high standards. This ensures that we are working above and beyond expectations and exhibiting the qualities and care of the teams within ALLpaQ.
