Report finds growing appetite for single-use technologies in the global biologic market
In its ‘Single-Use Technologies for the Biologic Market: Global Industry Analysis and Forecast 2015 to 2021’, PMR found that due to the reduced risk of contamination provided during development and production in the biopharmaceutical industry, single-use products have revolutionised the field of bioproduction.
Following increased awareness of biotherapeutics, and growing demand for biologics and advancements in medical technology, the global single-use technologies market is booming.
Led by the USA, Canada, Germany, France and the UK, who all hold major shares of the single-use technologies market, Asia too is expected to experience high growth rates over the next five years due to demand in India, China and Japan.
Made from a variety of plastics (including polyamide, polyethylene, polycarbonate, polyethersulfone, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polytetrafluorethylene, cellulose acetate, and ethylene vinyl acetate), single-use technologies are helping biotech businesses to reduce manufacturing and maintenance costs, while shifting the industry’s approach to the development and production of bioproducts.
